Six Weird Things

Conversation of the Day:

Daddy: “When we get home, you have a room to clean.”
Amanda: “Oh man!”

This time by Sara. In this meme I have to name 6 weird things about me:

1) I am one of the most obsessively organized persons I know… And it’s not always a good thing. ;) Why? Because I am OBSESSIVE about it… Bad enough that the sippy cups have to be stacked in a certain order in the cupboard. (Color coded)… Bad enough that clothes have to be re-hung on the same hangers, in the same spot in the closet after washing them… Bad enough that every negative I own (from before getting my digital camera) are in binders, in protective sleeves, in the absolute correct order… Negatives dating from 1984 to 2002… Have you ever seen the movie Sleeping with the Enemy? I’m like the husband, except I’m not violent/physically abusive about it, and I do it myself. ;)

2) Not counting Joe and immediate family, I have a fear of calling people on the phone. I have no idea why… I have no trouble when people call me, but the thought of calling them just terrifies me… Now if that isn’t strange, I don’t know what is.

3) I feel more than a little uncomfortable working in front of someone else. When I’m at home, I’m little miss bustle. I get tons done… When we are somewhere else, like at Joe’s parents house, I don’t like doing anything in front of them… I think I have issues… You think? ;)

4) I would love to have twins or triplets… Most people think I am insane, but I think it would be so much fun!… I am in my element when taking care of babies, so I don’t know if I’d have any major issues with caring for them.

(I just asked Jared if he could help me think of something weird about myself, and he says, “Well, that wouldn’t take too long!” )

5) I am very unromantic… I find all that stuff on the sappy/mushy side. The whole candle-lit dinner, with roses, etc… Too much in my opinion. Makes me very uncomfortable… For our first anniversary Joe and I spent it painting our shed, and then we had KFC for dinner. My friend Tami thought we were insane, but you know what? We had a great day!

6) (Boy, this is harder than I thought it would be) Hmmm… Oh, I know… I love to do things outdoors… Things like camping, gardening, going to the beach, hiking, etc… BUT, I hate, hate, hate getting dirty! Drives me up the wall. I don’t like it when the kids are dirty too. When they get too dirty, I don’t want them to touch me at all… I have Joe give them a bath, and won’t let them climb on me, etc, until they’ve been cleaned up… Just plain don’t like dirt! ;)

Boy… I really had to do some thinking on that one. I would have thought it would be easy to find weird things about myself.

I’m supposed to tag 6 people. Since I forgot to tag anyone on my last meme, I guess I better do it this time. But… If I tag you, you don’t *have* to do it. Just do it if you want to… Anyway, I know I’ve seen this on another blog, but I can’t remember who’s… What is you Sue? Andrea? Well, I’ll tag you both, just in case! ;)

1. Sue
2. Andrea
3. Blessed Mama
4. Antonia
5. Annika
6. Alesha

Plus, anyone else who wants to do it. )

We had a very nice evening tonight… Since the sun was shining (which it hasn’t done in quite a while), as soon as Joe got home from work, we took off. We went through McDonald’s drive-thru and then took ourselves on a picnic to the “Fantasy Forest Play Park” here in Sandy. We ate our dinner at a picnic table, and then let the kids play for quite a while. Daddy helped the girls on the swings, etc, while I chased the kids around with the camera. ;) I took over 100 pictures. (They are still on the camera. I’ll let you know when they are in the gallery.)… Then, after the kids played on the playground, we took a walk on the trail that goes through the park. The kids even got to play “Pooh Sticks” on a bridge that goes over the creek. They had so much fun.

Since tomorrow is going to be a nice day too, we decided to do tomorrow’s school this evening, and we’re taking tomorrow off. So, as soon as we got home, the boys hit the books for a second time today.

Tomorrow we’re going to take them to see the movie “The Wild”, and then after stopping by Wal*Mart, we’re going to spend the rest of the afternoon working in the yard. The kids are thrilled because they’ll be able to play to their heart’s content… Plus, we promised Josh that we’d buy him a bigger bike tomorrow… His is seriously too small… So I’m sure there will be plenty of peddling done tomorrow… This house has a huge concrete pad in the back yard that the kids can ride around on, and we don’t have to worry about cars, etc. )

Well, it’s getting late and I would like to get the pictures off the camera. Have a great one!

  1. How funny! I feel the same way you do when it comes to calling people. It’s kind of a relief to know I’m not the only one! I’m not always super organized but I don’t like any clutter laying about. Everything in the house can look really nice and neat till you look in my closets and drawers! I’m not much into the romantic thing either. Brad and I like the simple things too. But I do like romantic movies! That was cute that the kids played pooh-sticks. Winnie-the-Pooh has always been my favorite so I know what Pooh-sticks is! Hope you have a fun time seeing “The Wild”. Let me know if it’s any good. It looks very similar to Madagascar. Have a great day!

    Hugs!

  2. Sounds like you had a great time with the kids! Yeah! We should do something like that with ours soon. Just need to get us all better! We are all sick of being sick. (sigh)

  3. My weird things were posted a couple days ago! Thanks for the tag though! Glad you’re enjoying this beautiful spring weather. We are SO glad to have the sunshine again!
Loved learning a bit more about you. I am nowhere near that organized!
    ((hugs))

  5. ROFL! Your list cracks me up, you WEIRDO! ROFL! Just kidding!

It wasn’t on my site, so I’ll consider myself tagged… hmm… must think of 6 weird things about myself…

  6. Thanks for the tag ;) Will get to it next time I feel up to blogging (hopefully tomorrow).

I really enjoyed reading your post - very funny!

  7. We have a lot in common:

    I want twins
    I hate calling strangers
    I hate being dirty.

  8. Maybe you’re just trying not to take your “obsessive” organization to other places and that’s why you don’t like to work in front of others. :)

I’m #2 as well. I really hate making phone calls. I’m always afraid I’m interrupting something. Give me e-mail anyday. At least then I’m sure that they can respond at their leisure.

  9. I don’t like working in front of others and I get very little done when others are around. I like to organize too. I just don’t have places to put away things. I have 1 closet in the whole house. Very cluttered here, but getting more organized about the clutter. All notebooks are in one place. Stuff like that. Can’t wait to get more shelves.

    God bless!

  10. Oh my word! I was tagged in this….did I do this????
Ok I know I should do this on my blog….which is myspace by the way……I’ll have to get that to you.
    Anyway here goes…
    6 weird things:

    1. I am obsessive about organizing…..Julie you aren’t the only one….everything has to be in its proper place…and that annoys everyone…

    2. I’m an over compulsive planner….I have to have everything planned out. If I don’t know what is going on, then I have a problem. Yep…that annoys people too!

    3. I brush my hair 100 times a night….I don’t know if that is weird but I do it anyway.

    4. Everything has to be even to me….I always have to have two of something….maybe that’s why I liked Noah’s ark so much.

    5. I want to have 5-6 kids someday….some people call that weird…I don’t but some people do.

    6. I watch history documentaries for fun…yep I’m a nerd! :)

I added my myspace link…hopefully it will get you there….
