All About Jared (age 10)
Jared is such a great kid… And growing up much to quickly for my tastes. *sigh* … I think Jared’s strongest point is his manners. Boy, does that kid have some great manners. He always remembers to say please and thank you, and he is so mannerly when we are out and about. While he was super shy when he was little, he has become more outgoing. He isn’t afraid to order his own meal at a restaraunt, and will ask people for things he needs.
He is also a big help to me with his sisters. He is always doing little things for me, from throwing some blankets in the wash, to making his sisters something to eat. He is very protective of the girls (and Josh too), and he watches them like a hawk when they are playing outside.
One thing he needs to work on is the way he sometimes acts toward Josh and the girls… He can be a bit on the bossy side. (I call this the big brother syndrome). He tends to order them around, and I have to step in and remind him that he isn’t the boss…
He is never bossy for long though. When I stop him, he will start to think about how he’s been acting. It doesn’t take him long to realize how he was wrong, and he’ll come out of his room in tears, and will say he’s sorry to me and to his siblings.
I think Jared’s love languages are “Quality Time” and “Acts of Service”…
Jared loves to do things for other people, but especially for me and Joe. Every night Jared will make Joe’s lunch for work the next day, and insists on doing it himself. He is always wanting to get us things we want… Whether it’s a cup of tea or hot chocolate for me, or an extra blanket for Joe… He is even determined that when he grows up he’s going to buy me a class ring, because he overheard me telling Joe that I had really wanted to get one when I was a senior, but circumstances didn’t let me.
He also likes to spend “alone time” with me and Joe, without anyone else with him. Sometimes in the evenings, when Joe is in the room watching the news, Jared will go in the room and watch it with him, just so he can see Daddy alone. Then in the evenings, when the other kids have fallen asleep, Jared will slip out of the room and ask to watch a movie with me. He says that one of his favorite things to do is to snuggle with me, drink hot chocolate, and watch a movie. He always says, “I want to spend time with you alone Mommy,” and it melts my heart.
Jared’s major obsession right now is Nascar… That’s all he ever wants to talk about anymore! He’ll do searches on the drivers online, and will take notes on them! He memorizes facts, and could probably do a research report on any of them, just using his memory.
… I wish he would put as much effort into his school work!… He torments tells us about Nascar All. Day. Long. … What the drivers names are, what their number is, who the sponser is, who owns the car, when and where they were born, how many races they have won, etc… Josh told me yesterday that Jared does the same thing to him and then quizzes him about it later, to make sure he was paying attention! *rofl* (It’s a good thing he doesn’t quiz me and Joe, because that’s one test we would both fail!
)
All I know is that he’s growing up into a great little man, and I love him so much!

Jared sounds like a terrific kid! A real little warrior! Is the “Joseph Jr.” about being like Daddy? What an awesome compliment! And just think… you won’t need to spend heaps of money on servicing your vehicle. LOL May God continue to grow him into the man he is destined to be!
