All About Alicia (age 6)
Alicia is a precious girl. She has the sweetest, most loving, giving nature. I can’t tell you how generous she is. She is always wanting to do things for other people, and give things to other people. She will spend her allowance on toys for her siblings, and buy something cheap for herself. When she is buying presents, she will really look for something they want, and not worry about how in goes into her savings. She is something special.
Though she has never really been much for cuddling, she still loves to give (and receive) hugs and kisses… At least from me. She has always been one for “quick fixes”, when it comes to things like that. She will be playing hard and having fun, then come in for a hug and a love, then she’s off and running again. Same as when she was a baby.
She has always been a bundle of energy, but it seems to be slowing down a little. Even up to a year ago I didn’t think it was possible for her to sit still. She always had to be moving something… But she seems to be mellowing out in that respect. Now you can find her quietly doing something by herself for a while… Like she needs to regroup all by herself.
She gets easily frustrated, and tends to get VOCAL when she is angry with one of her siblings. While she would never, ever back talk to me and Joe, you can hear her screaming at one of the other kids in the bedrooms. I always have to bring her out and tell her to stop screaming… You should see her. Her face is always red and crying, and you can tell she’s pretty upset (usually at Josh)… But she needs to learn deal with her anger better.
Her and Josh’s relationship is pretty funny. Most of the time they are thick as thieves… Giggling, laughing, each other’s best friends… But then Josh will get into one of his “let’s torment my sister” moods, and watch out!… They’ve been like that for years… But I was once told by their old Awana leader that they will defend each other to the end, if anyone else tries to tease or be mean to the other.
Siblings. I tell ya…
Alicia is becoming more more responsible about doing her chores, and picking up toys… This age seems to be the “age of improvement” when it comes to that, as it was around this age that the boys started getting better about it too (so I have hope for Amanda… I hope!). Sometimes she will kick Amanda out of the room, because she wants to clean it all by herself. I have to watch that though, as I want Amanda to learn to pick up too, and not to take advantage of Alicia.
Alicia’s latest passion is her drawings. She draws pictures and colors All. The. Time… We have countless samples of her art work, and they cover the fridge and freezer. Sometimes she will color in coloring books, but mainly she goes through my printer paper at lightning speed. *lol* She likes to make pictures and give them to people as gifts.
Alicia’s other passion is eating. It’s been her passion since she was an infant, and that is no exageration! When she was 7-8 months she would eat 2 eggo waffles and a 4 ounce cup of fruit in one sitting… I swear, that girl is ALWAYS hungry. Sometimes it’ll only be 30 minutes from when we cleaned up from a meal, and she will be out asking for an apple or cheese, or something. Funny thing is, is that she’s so thin! No one can figure out where she puts it all! *lol* She must have a super, duper metabolism (lucky dog!).
I think her love languages are “Acts of Service” and “Words of Affirmation” to a lesser degree.
She doesn’t crave the compliments quite as much as Josh does, but you should see her beam when you tell her how good she’s done at something. When she tries really hard at something, she will always ask you how well she’s done. But unlike Josh, she won’t beg for compliments when you are complimenting someone else. She will think of the other person, and compliment them too.
And like I mentioned before, she loves to do things for other people. She’s a giver, that’s for sure! … And she says the nicest things. *smiles*

I am so enjoying reading about your kiddies. They sound just adorable! And it sounds like, all in all, they get along great together!
Tell Alicia I like the “Mama don’t let your babies grow up to be chipmunks” too! (I had the record Urban Chipmunk, when I was in 3rd grade.) Memories…
She has some wonderful qualities. Your children are going to LOVE this when they grow up!
My kids also take up for each other when someone else picks on the other. Well Jake and Rhiannon do lol…Trey is still a little too young. My sisters and I are like that to a point. But growing up I was usually the one who looked after them, they rarely ever took up for me.
I can see some similarities on Alicia and Ella. They both eat too much, are vocal especially when disappointed and they are both have fully-charged batteries that keeps them going and going and going!
