Happy Mother’s Day to Me!

I’ve been wanting a Dyson since last October, but the $500 they charged at most stores was a bit more than we wanted to spend on a vacuum. Wal*Mart had one for $378.42, which we thought was a great price, but it was still more than we had to spend on a vacuum… Well, this week in their Mother’s Day ad, they are on sale for $269.98 … So guess what Joe brought home for me today!!

Dyson

It may not be pink (or even purple, like Bi*Mart had for $500), but IT’S A DYSON! Whoo-hoooo!!! … Isn’t it pretty?

Dyson

As soon as I had it together, I just had to try it out. So I vacuumed the living room, our bedroom, and the kids rooms… I can’t believe how much stuff came out of the floor that was vacuumed YESTERDAY.

Dyson

I emptied the container, and will vacuum again tomorrow, to see if it gets as much… After living here for almost 2 years, it may take a few times through to get everything out of the carpet. *lol*

Since we have a little extra money this month (Joe gets his extra paycheck this month), we also bought Alicia’s birthday present… Her birthday isn’t until October, but money is usually pretty tight at that time of the year, so we like to buy ahead. *lol* … Anyway, we wanted to get her a digital camera. She LOVES to take pictures, and goes through the dispoable ones like crazy! In the long run it would be cheaper to have her use a digital camera and put the pictures on Flickr, and not print them or have to buy the disposable cameras all the time (this is what we do for the boys)… So, in the same ad Wal*Mart had some digital cameras on sale, and one of them was PINK! Alicia *loves* pink!

Kodak Easy Share

So, now that is up in the closet, waiting for Alicia’s birthday… And MAN, am I going to have a hard time waiting to give it to her! *rofl* She is just going to DIE when she sees it. I can’t wait to see her face!

I measured and weighed the kids today, since it’s been a few months. And for memories sake, I am going to list it here (so I don’t lose the info. *lol*)

  • Jared :: 4 feet, 4 inches (52″) tall and weighs 52.4 pounds
  • Josh :: 4 feet, 3 inches (51″) tall and weighs 52.8 pounds
  • Alicia :: 4 feet (48″) tall and weighs 46 pounds
  • Amanda :: 3 feet, 4.5 inches (40.5″) and weighs 31.4 pounds

What I find interesting is when I did this last October, Jared and Josh were the same height, but Jared weighed 3 pounds more than Josh. Now Jared is an inch taller, but they weigh the same… So I am wondering if Josh is getting ready for a big growth spurt… I told Jared that and he about had a heart attack!… He didn’t like it when Josh was as tall as him (since he’s 2 years older than Josh), and he’s hoping Josh doesn’t get taller. *lol* … Poor Jared!

Another amusing thing… In Oregon it’s a law that kids have to be in car/booster seats until they are 65 pounds. So Jared, who is TEN, is still in one… And has to be in one for another 13 pounds. *lol* Poor kid!… Luckily, it doesn’t bother him at all. If we tell him something is a law, then he will stick to it To. The. Letter!

Well, I want to get some scrapping in, so I’ll catch ya on the flip side!

  1. I so want a Dyson, but I haven’t seen one cheaper than $350. I think I’m getting a coffee pot for Mother’s Day because Will broke my other one lol.
I measured Jake the other day and he’s 4′7″ and weighs 80 lbs. He’s almost as tall as I am!

    Reply from Julie:

I bought our coffee pot for 50 cents before we were even married, and it still works… But of course, I don’t like coffee, so it’s only used when we have guests…. The reason I got it for 50 cents is because it was a “defect” return at work. The only problem is that one of the litle rubber leg things is missing. Other than that, it works great. *lol*

  2. Lucky lucky you :) - that looks awesome, your new vacuum cleaner. It makes the job much easier with a more efficient one.

I have asked for a “day off” as a present for Mother’s Day :) - Elan is pretending he didn’t hear it hehe

That’s so funny, but probably frustrating for Jared to have to be still in a booster seat, but Elan and I have been VERY particular about Divya and the car seat requirements since she was born even more after our accident last year (it was the seat that probably saved her life and she wasn’t even hurt).

    Reply from Julie:

I didn’t know you were in an accident last year! I’m so glad all is well!

  3. It’s be-u-tiful!!! I have an Oreck - can’t have a Dyson (*sigh*). ENjoy! See ya - Kellan

I’ve never heard of an Oreck before…

  4. My hubby bought me a dyson last year when we had a big of extra money (and we DESPERATELY needed a decent vaccuum!). I LOVE IT! I can’t believe how much dirt comes out of the carpet…and I use it daily as my dining / living area is carpeted. (Try not vaccuum for a day with 3 active kids under 5!!! *lol*) I’m sure Alicia will just love the camera too.
    Grace and blessings,
    Amanda.

It’s amazing how quickly the kids can mess up a carpet, huh? *lol* … Been there, done that!

  5. I love my Dyson, so welcome to the club! They are wonderful!

Mine is purple, but I love that pretty shade of sea green that you have, too!

I would have LOVED a pink or purple one, but beggers can’t be choosers! *rofl* … But I still love my Dyson, and I like the color too. :D

  6. Congratulations on the Dyson! How exciting! The camera is beautiful too!

Thanks Crystal! I’ve never been so excited about a vacuum before! *rofl*

  7. Oh kewl, I have been ogling the Dyson too!

Is is the kind where the head swivels for easy manueverbility?

Ill get one some day but it won’t be with this extra “paycheck.” which i expect any day now.

But yay for you. Happy Mother’s Day!

I had to BEG Joe to be in the picture! *rofl*

  10. Oooh that’s much prettier than the Dysons we get over here, they are all boring and grey. I have a Vax vaccuum cleaner that my mum got for free and passed on to me. The things is great, it’s also a floor cleaner so when I finally get around to reading the instructions I can fill it up with water and give these floors a really good clean :)

I LOVE the pink camera for Alicia - I still think you’re gonna be more excited that she is :p

Hope you have a great weekend
    Love Debs

OK… I admit it… I am very psyched about the camera! *rofl*

  11. What a wonderful Mother’s Day present!!! I love the color. That’s wonderful how much it picked up. I’m happy for you.
We have the same weight guidelines in TN for booster seats. :)
Alicia is going to have a fit when she sees that pretty camera. I hope you can wait. hehehe
Happy Mother’s Day to you. Your children are adorable.

I would love to get a steam cleaner too! … I told Joe that next year he could get me an upright steam cleaner for Mother’s Day. ;) *rofl*

  13. Congrats!! I saw the same camera and hinted to hubby. Let’s just hope he gets it! *LOL*

    Reply:

I hope he gets hints better than Joe. *lol* I have to tell him exactly what I want, because hints fly right over his head!!

  14. Oooh, wonderful present! Enjoy.

  15. Oh cool a Dyson!!!…I bet Alicia will love that camera. I would have a hard time keeping it a secret that long LOL…Poor Jared! LOL.

It will be hard, but I promise to be good at not give it to her early! ;)

  16. I love your Dyson! It is so adorable. We got Tyler a digital camera for Christmas. It is so nice for them to be able to take pics whenever they want and not have to worry about the cost of developing the film! I also love the pink.

    Reply:

Isn’t that the truth!… Now it’s just the batteries we have to worry about. Half the time the boys have to buy the batteries themselves (with their allowance), because they go through them so fast! *lol*

  17. Julie, have you though about buying the boys or having them buy from their allowance two sets of rechargeable batteries (assuming the cameras take a normal size battery instead of a weird one!) that way while one set is still charging they can use the other set in the camera, dad did that for me one christmas with my camera and it save me a fortune.

    Debs

With our first digital camera we bought a charger and batteries for it (it was stolen with both the digital camera and the video camera when our camera bag was taken from the van), but the batteries didn’t hold a charge for very long at all… Sometimes not even one day… I got tired of charging them all the time…

  18. Awesome vacuum! I never realized how icky carpet gets until we removed our carpet a few years ago to put down Pergo. I was so grossed out and decided I’d NEVER have carpet in our house again! The only carpet we currently have are our bathroom rugs (that are washed weekly) and we have an area rug under our dining room table that is constantly vacuumed.

When we got this house, I tried to get Joe to go for Pergo floors, but he refused. He doesn’t want to walk on cold floors with his bare feet. *lol*

That is a crazy booster seat law. Ours is just as weird. The kids have to be in a car seat (with the harness things in the seat) until they are 4 and then between 4 and 7 it’s a booster seat unless they weigh 80 lbs. (my 10 1/2 year old doesn’t even weigh that!), OR are 4′ 9″ tall (I don’t think he’s that either. LOL He doesn’t have to sit in a booster seat, though, because he’s at least 8 years old.

Jax still has until his next birthday before he can ditch the booster.

We honestly don’t care that the boys are still in booster seats, and neither do they. (I just find it amusing)… The kids actually like it, because they can see out the window better. :D

  19. what a cool vacuum!! I really like the colour!!
and I like alicia’s camera too!! What a lucky girl to be getting a camera like that! :)

I know! My kids are so spoiled! I didn’t get my first camera until I was 12!!

  20. I think i was like 17 or 18 when i got my first camera *oops* but most of my friends had cameras before me

By 17 or 18 I was already very much SNAP HAPPY! *rofl*

  21. Hi Julie. I have always wanted a Dyson since I first seen them on tv. I will have one one of these days.

    Hope you get one!! :D

  22. Oh I soooo love my Dyson. I am kinda sad that the house in Arizona has only carpet in the living room but it does an awesome job on hard wood too. I wanted the one with the ball but I love the one I have now so…..

Isn’t it amazing the stuff it finds…well amazing and gross too!

    Happy Belated Mother’s Day

So far I love mine!!…. Hey, at least you have it for the living room though! :D
